Simons-Emory International Consortium on Motor Control

How does the brain control the body?

Understanding how millions of neurons work together to learn and control complex motor skills is a fundamental unsolved problem in neuroscience.

We are a consortium of eight research groups developing new electrode systems and computational methods for investigating motor control. Our goal is to enable a comprehensive understanding motor function across species and behaviors. This collaboration will break down barriers between otherwise disparate research communities, creating a common framework for discovering how different brains generate different behaviors.
